Meeting Documents Repository

Post by ThomasRuz »

Given that there are going to be more HR meetings in the near future it's important to not only save the meeting docs on the Google Drive, but also on the forums for easier accessibility.
To start this thread off, I will post the first (small) HR427 meeting from 16 September of 2018. Keep in mind that the progress of the project was a lot different back then.

16-09-2018 Meeting Summary

16/09/2018

Asset requirements
Druadach Highlands - Same terrain assets as on the SHotN side, but different ‘cultural’ sets, manmade stuff. Should blend with other regions asset-wise at the borders, further conceptualisation would be needed.
Conceptualizing - MORE

Situations

Nord Conflict - The presence of Haafingar occupiers should be noticeable at the border: patrols, fortifications, guarded passes, farmer shakedowns and the lot.

Image
Conflict border, lest we forget o7

Western Reach Conceptualisation

Conceptualisation of the Western Reach is a requirement for starting Exterior work!

WR in general - Dreary, rains all the time. Idea for a season: Late autumn. Atmosphere is important!
WR Highlands - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentland_Hills also, Irish hillsides. While Evermore(Bjoulsae Basin) would be less forested and have soft hills in places, WR highlands would be more forested and craggy, some large hills, lakes and puddles(caused by the very rainy circumstances), and also a few small rivers.
Creag Coast - Further conceptualisation!

(Miraclestone’s) Literature

Reviewing and Including - Miraclestone and ThomasRuz are appointed ‘internal’ reviewers. Inclusion and reviewing (due to lack of manpower) will also hinge on ‘external’ reviewers from SHotN, P;C or TR.

Quests

Violet and Mort are willing to create quests for HR427

Notes

The Gehennoth will not be included in the Witch-Knights questline, but rather exists as a supplementary creature(unique, or rare high-level maybe)
Witch-Knights questline
Rough story-arc
“Tone and Theme is probably a good one to tackle first
I think the tone was set pretty early on: Desperation and rebellion, guerilla fighting, doing everything to get your country back
The tone and severity of these themes should be explored at first, by hitting supplies and ambushing soldier etc.
run-of-the-mill hinderance
During the questlines and furthering of the purpose these notes should be intensified, things do become more desperate, losses occur against an ever-threatening and overpowering enemy
Until finally they snap, the mystic connection clicks, and they start exploring their 'roots'
That should be the beginning part of it all, the stuff that comes after this I'm not too sure about
The Witch-Knights will probably start to loot burial sites, ancient groves, remnants of the other Witch-King's totems, make deals or trades with Witches to further their goal, at this point these decisions will probably be influenced by the Last Witch King
(maybe to abuse this power for himself, or plot something, who knows)
During this time probably the Witch-Knights are pushed towards Malekna, as around there, most of these mystical remnants might be found
At that point there might be a general unnerving feeling of a thing not only prowling at night, but also scratching in the back of the mind
Everyone, including the Last Witch King, can feel the power of KDWD that has long seeped into the soil (or has already known about it, but is willing to go into the belly of the beast)
Whereafter the PC and allies are probably tasked to find this source of mythical power, and try and maybe barter make a deal with it somehow
KDWD probably would implant knowledge of the earthbones on someone? (not sure)
After which preparations are made for conquest”
Crypt of Hearts
See Zini’s post on the Crypt of Hearts, for most of these points
The Order of the Heart guards the crypts, and technically owns it. Not for putting the dead in, but rather keeping the dead contained.
The ‘ownership’ of the CoH probably came to be during the era of the Witch-Kings, where the Crypt of Hearts was a bottomless pit of undead servants, which had to be contained.
One of the entrances to the CoH can be in Shornhelm, also another reason for the OotH to defend it.
Malekna Forest
The forest belongs in no territory, either through it being a hostile and scary environment, or through a blight that rots all foreign flora.
Shadow magic/beasts
Shadow magic and beasts are a nice thing that should be included, however where to put them is debatable. Originally I had them written down for the CoH, however if we look at the description ‘the reflection of possible worlds created by forces in conflict’ it sounds like a thing for warped areas, where multiple melded into one, then again, it could also be said that they merged and are therefore not in conflict.
CoH will contain the Umbra’Keth, possibilities for the OotH questlines

Meeting Doc from Sept 2021 because I forgot to post it on the forum:

HR427 meeting Sept 2021

Green = Discussed

Yellow = No Decision made

Meeting Topics

1. Daggerfall or Wayrest - Kynareth or Akatosh? Kynareth is the patron god of Daggerfall but in recent times the worship of Oriel have grown in popularity, is this our final statement on the subject?

2. Heraldry - Brainstorming & semi-standardization.

3. Size of Wayrest & other settlements

4. Layout of Jehenna, Farrun & Evermore

5. Armor & Weapon materials - diversification

6. Creatures of Eastern HR.

7. Tilesets & exterior assets, what is needed?

8. Books - brainstorming

Meeting Documentation

Piety and Temples

Kyne is the head of the pantheon of the Normen.
Kynareth should be the patron diety of Daggerfall. How do we structure patron deities in relation to the new situation post-warp?

The decision was made that duplicates are fine with the respective patron gods, and interpret it more loosely. Our old information needs to be reinterpreted:

Old:
The city of Wayrest will be the location of the biggest temple of Akatosh due to having a temple to Akatosh in TES:II.

The city of Shornhelm will be the location of the biggest temple of Arkay due to its connection with the Crypt of Hearts. The rise of Mannimarco & Necromancy as well as increases the religious fervor amongst the Shornhelmites.

The city of Camlorn will be the location of the biggest temple of Dibella due to its history of beautiful ladies in waiting including the soon to be married Lady Kelmena. Brothels, both of intellectual or carnal nature. Brothels used as meeting places for political action. Artisanship is the foundation of the city.

The city of Evermore will be the location of the biggest temple of Magnon due to its connection with Hedge Wizards.

Addendum: Zinitrad
Spoiler
Zini Trad
11 sep. 2021
OKAY so, this might be out of date, but at least with the initial form of Ostern belief and the kingdom of stars mythos as I was initially structuring- So the whole importance of Evermore is that it was/is/will be the capital city of the Once and Future Kingdom, which was erected in the Starry Age (middle dawn), the time of many at once where all was ruin and all was gleaming; Magnon's kingdom and his courtiers had been shut against the mortal realm up until the starry age when Ariel fell ill and revealed that the madness that ate at Sheor festered within him slowly as well. Magnon realized that the walls were crumbling and the centre could not hold, and interceded, sending forth cold-cyan Memnolie to sing upon the mountains and invite a mortal man to speak with the court of stars. In Ostern mythos, Reymond strode forth from the seafoam world a mortal man and spoke in heaven with Magnon and Memnolie; and when he returned, he was the knighted the starry lord of earth. Across thousands of years he erected a kingdom of the whole of High Rock in days, and shut its gates against High Rock to teach its inhabitants how to survive the lawlessness of Ariel's decay under the law of Magnon, and he did so from his capital of Evermore, forevermore, until the Starry Age closed with Ariel's waking, and he made the promise on his deathbed that he will be there, when Ariel falls ill once more, waiting for them in the once and future kingdom. The Ostern mythos of the starry kingdom revolves around this knowledge that Ariel will fail to madness eventually once again, and that when he does, they will return to Magnon's starry age, guided by Reymond their once and future king.
The city of Daggerfall will be the location of the biggest temple of Kynareth due to it being the location of a Kynareth temple in TES:II and its proximity to the wild glens. Oriel has a large following amongst the aristocrats.

The university of Gwylim will be the location of the biggest temple of Julien due to its position off of Nirn as well as the studies of magic the school is known for. Julien fits as they are both the patron of the teacher/mentor & the student.

The city of Anticlere will be the location of the biggest temple of Mara due to it being the location of a Mara temple in TES:II as well having character descriptions from TES:II describing NPCs being associated with the temple.

The isle of Balfiera and its settlements will be the location of the biggest temple of the Elvish Hero Gods (especially Phynaster and Auri-El) due to its high mer population and the fact that it is the location of an Akatosh temple in TES:II

Addendum: Zinitrad
Spoiler
So Balfiera will in general be mostly traditionally altmeri in deities, even among the breton humans there (the whole manmeri mk 2) but the cults of Phynaster specifically is distinct from the altmeri one, as the Direnni approach Phynaster as a researcher and scientist as opposed to a preserver, although they directly connect his achievements in preserving aldmeri culture and lifespan to his theorization and experimentation with ancient elven tradition and unraveling the secrets of existence. They still reject existence like their fellow elf but they emphasize the importance of interacting with it and understanding it to better control it, resist it, and impose law upon it.

The city of Farrun will be the location of the biggest temple of Stendaar (Reymond). There really are no concepts or lore to base this on other than it being a large city and Stendaar needing a home.

The city of Orsinium will be the location of the biggest temple of Trinimac and the Orsimer pantheon. This is based on plenty of lore collected from sources like the pocket guide to the empire 3rd edition. See Thomasruz notes.

The city of Jehanna will be the location of the biggest temple (just outside of the city, the tree of many faces) of Y'ffre due to the western reach's wild nature and the concept of the knights of Jehanna being 'witchknights'.

The city of Northpoint will be the location of the biggest temple of Zenithar due to the high craftsman and fishing populations of the region. Zenithar is also the patron god of mercenaries fitting for the militarism of Normen culture. Northpoint have a large temple dedicated to Kyne.

New (suggested):

Wayrest: Idem, TES:II canonized (as loan-god). Both temple and patron.

Shornhelm: Arceigh (native interpretation); suggestion; conflict with the Necromancers, and helps with the Shornhelm crypt. Both temple and patron.

Camlorn: Is described as having the Dibella temple, TES:II Canonized. Suggestion Flower Festival, do something with it. (Think 17th/18th century netherlands, free expression/artistry/brothels; also think chinese prostitute houses Qing(?) dynasty, a lot of political intrigue happens inside, also see ‘Demimonde’). Both temple and patron.

Evermore: The main temple in Evermore is Magnon’s Temple

Gwylim: Julianos (Julien) is the representative of Gwylim

Anticlere: Mara, TES:II canonized. Both temple and patron.

Adamantine tower (culaire); a temple dedicated to Elven Heroes Phynaster/Auri-el/Trinimac

Zinitrad’s take:
Spoiler
“So Balfiera will in general be mostly traditionally altmeri in deities, even among the breton humans there (the whole manmeri mk 2) but the cults of Phynaster specifically is distinct from the altmeri one, as the Direnni approach Phynaster as a researcher and scientist as opposed to a preserver, although they directly connect his achievements in preserving aldmeri culture and lifespan to his theorization and experimentation with ancient elven tradition and unraveling the secrets of existence. They still reject existence like their fellow elf but they emphasize the importance of interacting with it and understanding it to better control it, resist it, and impose law upon it.”
Farrun: Reymond is the patron god (in progress).

Orsinium: Trinimac, as per in-game sources.

Jehanna: Y’ffr, the temple is located outside the city.

Northpoint: Zen (needs to be integrated more, come back to it later, this would be Zen’s largest temple). Kyne also has a large temple, but it isn’t the largest one.

Daggerfall: Kynareth is the biggest temple, and would also be the patron. Because of the exclusivity Oriel is only a patron for the noble class.

Heraldry

Cities etc that already have heraldry from Tes2 should just be brought up to date aka modernised. Historical heraldic rules should not be adhered to in the strict sense but could be used as a vague reference or fluid guidelines. MammaHyena will write down some guidelines.

Some suggestions were previously made for the city-states, and these elements should probably be included in some way or form:

Camlorn: Griffin (and lillies?)

Daggerfall/Camlorn: Griffin/Dragon hybrid

Clan Direnni: Red Cow/Bull

Northpoint: Balual (Medieval whale demon)

Farrun: sea/lion (because Hellcats), alternatives? Mermaid/Two fishes.

Shornhelm: HRE falcon, but then imperial dragon (because of Lariats), but that’s more the Lariat family symbol than the city symbol. Or a combination of the two symbols. (Beyond Skyrim has gone for a similar-ish interpretation)

Orsinium: Maybe a Woollypede? In a eight-symbol/Ouroboros

Evermore: Eye and Sun (maybe tower, looked too zealous, needs more input), MammaHyena will make more mockups with different painting techniques.

Suggested; a book about heraldries

Maps

Taniquetil will make a new tier list so that it will represent the correct size of the settlements. Settlement sizes are unfortunately still a technical challenge.

City Structure/Composition

There used to be sketches about Farrun’s and Jehanna’s composition, but they cannot be found back, they should be on the Discord.

For Evermore, the central castle would roughly like this:

HR427 Meeting (2nd) April 2022

Topics

- Progress on Heraldry; What do we have, what needs to be improved/brainstormed.
- Layout of Jehanna, Farrun and Evermore (continued, last meeting). And Western Reach settlements in general.
- Books Brainstorming (last meeting)
- Armour and Weapons materials (last meeting)
  • The coveted “First Release”, narrowing down:
  • What exactly do we need to get prepared to realize it, aside from hardset limitations.
  • Dragonfields and Druadach Mountains; what do we need for starting ext. development, and more importantly - what do we want to realize?
  • Thomas’ suggestions for Dragonfields.
  • Creatures of Eastern High Rock
- Discussing “Super-regions”, general motifs and purposes.
- Discussing Kingdom names (e.g Wayrest or Boulland, Daggerfall or Bretony).

Meeting notes:

Assets outside of HR

- 6-8 variants of Breton book models required (Asylum takes on the task), important that they fit the bookshelves although we currently lack those models as well. Asylum will use the size of vanilla books.
- Gnomey suggests that we do not make quite as tall bookshelves as in vanilla but rather make them thicker. Perhaps if possible to make the bookshelves look fuller with less objects as to support the interior devs.
- Bookshelves will be a part of a greater Breton set, coherence in form. This requires concept art.
- We need urns, both pan-breton & ostern both for TR & HR427 although pan-breton is more of a concern for TR. Need concept, Pan-breton a priority. Keeping to the dimensions of vanilla urns yet adding some more rotund versions as to create variation. Urns should be used more sparingly in HR than they are used in Morrowind. Crates & barrels should be of the pan-tamrielic variety. A wooden trunk or perhap a variety of similar furnitures could be of use though. Chests also needed but less so for TR.
https://discord.com/channels/2617899105 ... 0000077874

- Shadowhawk made concept art for a Breton trade ship that can be turned into an asset.

Super-regions & kingdom names

- Super-regions were deemed to be too vague of a concept to apply. Super-region names are inspiration for larger kingdom/realm names.
- Given the discussions we have had in the HR427 channels about kingdom names, people seem more warm to using kingdom names, but some require further refinement.
  • Names that people were in favour of were:
    Wayrest -> Kingdom of Boulland
Camlorn -> Grand Duchy of Norcambria
  • The naming of Daggerfall’s kingdom name was contentious and a full consensus was not reached. The most likely contenders are the Kingdom of Bretony or the Kingdom of Greater Bretony. using The Bay or Iliac was also discussed, but these titles were deemed too broad.
  • The name Evermore Hegemony was discussed. The Direnni Hegemony was a post-facto name. It’s a decision whether Evermorians would liken themselves to that name or would choose to opt for something the Direnni themselves would’ve used.
  • Farrun might still use its own name for their own Kingdom.
  • Shornhelm and Northpoint do not have proper kingdom names yet. Options for Shornhelm are Kural (after the Kurallian mountains), Wrothgar (after the now occupied mountainous Norman old capital Wrothgaria and region). Though as a political faction Shornhelm + Northpoint are known as the Eltheric League.
  • The title of Gothryd was discussed, it’s unlikely that he would be audacious enough to call himself a High-King, also in conjunction with SHOTN’s High-King Thian. By calling himself High-King Thian defies imperial rule, Gothryd is in a position where he cannot afford to be hit by the empire’s metaphorical club; Gothryd focuses more on intra-political struggles than inter-political.
  • The renaming of Northpoint was discussed; Northpoint will not be renamed in the near-future unless a better name is found to replace it. Northpoint’s name might be changed due to it being the weaker of the fantasy names in the province, and also perhaps not as vital.
>This is when ThomasRuz made a new discord channel about maps and the conversation died.
