Kreathi Dale Region Guide

Kreathi Dale Region

Background:
The Kreathi Dale is a wide valley in southwestern Skyrim. It is surrounded by mountainous regions to the south (Jeralls), east (Throat of the World region) and north (Skaldring Mts.), and highlands to the northwest (Valstaag) and west (Sundered Hills, Bend'r Mahk).

Lake Ilinalta takes up most of the valley floor, being one of Skyrim's largest and deepest lakes. Several streams feed the lake, which is drained through the Hjaal river stretching north with its mouth in the Drajkmyr Marshes. The region is heavily forested, with endless pine forests characterizing most of the hold. Ancient oak forests sits like enclaves between the pines, especially on the northern lake shore.

Cleared land around the numerous cities and villages is used for agriculture and husbandry. Logging is unsurprisingly a major industry as well, and the same goes for lake fishing. The endless forests provide danger and adventure as such tend to do, but generally the dale is a safe and flourishing region -- especially compared to the barren and wartorn highlands of Bend'r Mahk and Sundered Hills of the Reach, as well as the near cataclysmic perils of neighbouring Whiterun. The citizens of the Kingdom of Falkreath are traders, loggers, farmers, hunters, warriors woodsmen and nobles. Their Colovian and uniquely Kreathman cultural identities sets them apart from their neighbours to the north and south, but their Cyrodiilic ties can't be denied, when compared to more traditional Nordic holds.
