Welcome to Project Tamriel!
Project Tamriel is a collection of mod projects that work together on several provinces of Tamriel in the world-space and timeline of TES III: Morrowind. At this time, four projects, Skyrim: Home of the Nords, Project Cyrodiil, High Rock: 3E427 and Project Hammerfell are being actively developed. The first two already have playable releases.
Keep up-to-date with the latest progress on our Discord Server!
We work closely with Tamriel Rebuilt, another TESIII mod project, and aim to provide content compatible with their development of the entire province of Morrowind. A few years ago, Project Tamriel and Tamriel Rebuilt combined their assets in a shared repository known as Tamriel_Data to better ensure consistency across all projects. We're always looking for new developers! If you're interested in working on interiors, exteriors, models, quests, sounds, or even just books, then please register and make a thread in the Showcase forum.

Project Tamriel is proud to announce the first full release of
Abecean Shores
Abecean Shores will bring players far from Morrowind to the western coasts of Cyrodiil, the Imperial Province. These lands are ruled by the Kingdom of Anvil, the largest and richest of the Colovian realms. At the kingdom's heart sits the mighty city of Anvil itself, an enormous port metropolis binding the Imperial heartland to the myriad lands of the West. In the plazas, alleys, temples, and wharfs of Anvil, players will find scores of memorable characters, handcrafted interiors, and intricate quests that breathe life into an entirely new piece of Tamriel.
Beyond the walls of Anvil city, the kingdom rules over two distinct hinterlands. To the east, players will explore the rainy Strident Coast and Dasek Marsh, a fertile swathe of countryside which hosts the town of Brina Cross and a number of smaller villages, farms, and ranches. Beyond the placid lowlands, these interior lands offer opportunities for adventure - and danger. Crumbling ruins of the ancient Ayleid and Reman empires dot the land, alongside a wealth of caves, barrows, mines, and goblin warrens.
To the west, Anvil rules a vast reach of the Abecean Sea, spattered with islands, dungeons, and yet more quest content. The largest of Anvil's islands, Stirk Isle, has been entirely overhauled since the pre-alpha release of Project Cyrodiil, and now hosts a dense concentration of quests both within and outside the new town of Charach. Taking full advantage of TESIII's robust underwater gameplay, players will discover an entirely new world beneath the waves, with new coral reefs, sea creatures, dungeons, and treasures to be found on the seafloor.
Like Tamriel Rebuilt and Skyrim: Home of the Nords, Project Cyrodiil is a fully-realized, fully-playable fan-made expansion to TESIII: Morrowind. Players may travel to Cyrodiil at any level, and at any stage in their character's journey. Like the original game, our quest content is designed to maximize roleplay and choice, and to immerse players in the world and the culture of its people.
Besides the dozens of standalone miscellaneous quests, Abecean Shores includes a full palette of faction questlines. Players will encounter some familiar factions from Morrowind, like the Thieves Guild, Fighters Guild, and Mages Guild, but you'll also find dynamic new factions, including the Itinerant Priests and the Kingdom of Anvil itself. Altogether, Abecean Shores includes over 160 quests, guaranteeing dozens of hours of playtime.
Bethesda fans will no doubt recognize Anvil from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, where it featured as a quest hub. While we have taken some aesthetic inspiration from the Mediterranean style of that game's Anvil city, and a select few characters are shared, the similarities end there. The world of Abecean Shores is based on original concepts of the Project Tamriel team, and our approach to quest design, world development, and lore is intended to match... -
Project Tamriel is a collective of modding projects for TES III: Morrowind that aims to recreate the provinces of the continent of Tamriel found outside the borders of the original game world. The provinces of Skyrim, Cyrodiil, High Rock and Hammerfell are currently in active development.
Welcome, citizens and adventurers of Tamriel, to our development roundup article! While Project Tamriel works tirelessly on the upcoming Cyrodiil release, we thought it'd be a great time to inform you about our news in a fresh format.
So make yourself some tea, sit back, and enjoy this overview of our projects’ recent progress, and what is still in the works for the near future!
Province: Cyrodiil is currently the main focus of the whole project, as its upcoming area, the Abecean Shores release, is in its finishing stages. This release has been in development for over a decade, limited for many years by a lack of the development resources needed to bring so much content up to the quality standards of our other well-established projects, but it is now approaching completion.
Release area of the upcoming Abecean Shores update, hopefully bringing Cyrodiil to you in the coming months.
We are planning to release Abecean Shores in the second half of 2024. This release will be Project Tamriel’s first full release in the Imperial Province of Cyrodiil, and include a huge swathe of that country’s western coast and seaboard.
The Abecean Shores release area covers the Kingdom of Anvil in its entirety: a temperate and Mediterranean realm with broad swathes of wilderness, dozens of dungeons, a vast sea area, and many settlements. The largest of these is the city of Anvil itself, a powerful and prosperous port city known for its beautiful temples, thriving markets, and bustling harbor.
The kingdom also includes the dusty caravan town of Brina Cross, a picturesque island town called Charach, and several villages that dot the Strident Coast region. The lands of the Abecean Shores are like nothing in TES III, Tamriel Rebuilt, or PT’s Skyrim - in Cyrodiil, players will have a chance to experience a very different part of the world, with new factions, new conflicts, new history, and new adventures.
The city of Anvil is the focal point of the release, bringing one of the landmarks of Cyrodiil to life and offering a heavy load of quests within the city itself.
In addition to the mainland, a large portion of the Abecean Sea will be included in the release, offering many islands and underwater adventures for any explorer brave enough to dive in. Those who dare to delve even deeper will discover lost ruins of the Ayleids, shipwrecks from many lands and eras, and ancient Dreugh citadels that burrow their way below the seafloor. The lairs of these chthonic monsters, as well as their hoards of treasure, have been developed for you by LilianaUnfolded and Aveno.
Our exterior developers are in the process of reviewing the final remaining islands of the release. Thanks to the new seafloor development standards set by Silvone, the... -
It has been a long time since the last weekly progress update on Cyrodiil development. But it does not mean there was nothing made! Our project steadily moves forward in its goal to recreate Cyrodiil as a part of the TES III: Morrowind game world according to the lore presented within. Not only that, but the scale of the world allows us to make Cyrodiil more expansive and detailed as it ever has been in any other game. And our nearest objective is the Abacean Shores release, which includes the entirety of the Gold Coast and an update to Stirk:
Cyr_Main and PC_Anvil are the areas of future releases. You can see the full version of the map here.
The workflow is split into five departments that function as development stages. Let us take a look at everything that has happened in each of these departments since December 12th of 2020. Of course, everything you will see in the screenshots is subject to change before the release.
Concept art
Sketches, pictures, images, and photos create a foundation for what is to come and give other departments a much-needed sense of direction. It is easier for a 3D modeler or exterior developer to do their work when someone outlines the preliminary shapes and colors of what needs to be created.
That said, a lot of work was done by Infragris and others who contributed to the Cyrodiil Regions & Geography Document – a compilation of stock images and text describing the architecture, climate, nature, and cultural inspirations for all regions planned for our Cyrodiil. But there were also plenty of great individual designs made throughout the year too:- 2021 started with a compilation of Ateiggaer's armor concepts.
Imperial Battlemage by Ateiggaer- Spring to Summer was dominated by the armor concepts of hans_xeno.
Colo-Nordic armor concept by hans_xeno- Saint_Jiub dropped by in December to contribute some great new Nibenese concept art.
Hierophant spire-fortress by Saint_Jiub- The redeemed servant is a semi-undead creature you will encounter in Ayleid ruins. Ateiggaer, hans_xeno, infragris and Aldergo fleshed it out with their concepts.
Redeemed servant by Infragris- In Summer, MammaHyenna joined the team and contributed lots of great concepts of clothing, clutter and creatures.
Colovian robe by MammaHyenna
Holc by MammaHyenna- Steppenwolf has made beautiful concepts for the cities of Kvatch and Sancre Tor. The latter:
- Carnelian Snail – this giant creature lives in the Niben and is used for harvesting ink. A concept by Nirvayn:
Of course, this list is not exhaustive and likely omits a lot of the great concept art that gets posted in our Discord channels almost daily.
Assets
One of the biggest challenges of Project Tamriel is that we need to create almost every asset anew. You can't build Cyrodiil out of Morrowind assets. And our 3D department is working hard indeed. Here are some examples of what has been made throughout this year and a half:
Equipment is a major element of any RPG. And TES III allows you to collect and combine its pieces with a lot of freedom. Project armorers...
